I was sitting in class and couldn’t hear or understand the teacher
I first realized I had a hearing challenge when I was sitting in class and couldn’t hear or understand the teacher. Before contacting the Hearing + Balance Clinics, I didn’t have any preconceived fears or concerns and already had good impressions when I walked in. Hearing aids initially helped, but eventually, they started distorting voices even more than before but after testing, Mr. Johnson told me that my hearing had improved, which was quite unexpected. If you’re concerned about your hearing and are considering visiting, this is a great place to go.

I became tired of saying “HUH?”
I decided to seek help for my hearing challenge after I became tired of saying “HUH?” when speaking to my husband, and he was tired of repeating himself. I realized that I was ignoring him when he talked because I couldn’t hear him. My only concerns were down to me being vain about how hearing aids would look – it made me not want to wear them.
However, my first impressions of the clinic were quite impressive. Since getting hearing aids, my life has improved totally! The first thing I noticed was the loud and beautiful sound of birds, and my relationship with my husband has improved because I can hear better than ever. To anyone concerned about their hearing and considering visiting the clinic, I would say, “Try it! But be sure you put them on as soon as you get up and leave them in until you go to bed!” The team are knowledgeable, quick to help, they stay in touch until you are comfortable and you can call anytime.

The ringing in my ears had me worried
I was very concerned when I first realized I had a hearing challenge. The ringing in my ears had me worrying whether any corrections or treatment would even work for me.
However, since wearing hearing aids, my hearing has improved significantly, and they have provided me with much-needed relief. The staff are very professional and knowledge.

My grandchildren’s higher voices were impossible to hear
I first realized something was up with my ears when I needed to have the TV or car radio on at excessive volumes to hear them properly. Additionally, my grandchildren’s higher voices were impossible to hear. Before contacting Hearing and Balance Clinics, my main concern was not wanting large devices in my ears. However, my first impression was very positive—Dr. Thomas was incredibly patient and did not rush at all during the consultation.
The impact of hearing aids on my life has been huge. I had no idea what I was missing; walking outside the clinic to my car, I could suddenly hear birds and the breeze blowing. If you need aids, get them. It’s one of the best quality of life decisions you can make.

I don’t need the TV volume on 100
I first realized something was up with my ears when my son told me that I needed hearing aids. I was very much looking forward to my first visit to the clinic and I found the staff to be professional while also being caring, patient, and concerned. Any questions I had were answered right away.
Since getting my hearing aids, I no longer have to ask people to repeat themselves, and I don’t need the TV volume on 100. To anybody concerned about their hearing and considering a visit, my advice is to go as soon as you can.

Listened to all my concerns
After Shanda’s newborn daughter, Shaylen, failed her hearing test twice, she turned to Hearing + Balance Clinics for support.
“My biggest concern was how long would she be without hearing and how it would impact our lives,” recalls Shanda.
At their initial appointment, Shanda says the team was “very, very friendly, welcoming, and listened to all my concerns and questions.”
Best of all, Shanda was relieved to learn that Shaylen didn’t need hearing aids.
Giving Hearing + Balance Clinics a 10/10 rating, Shanda advises, “Go! Go and get checked just to be on the safe side. They are very helpful and they listen to all of your concerns and give you a sense of relief. They were easy and quick to make an appointment, they were very friendly and helpful. I would definitely recommend them to anyone.”

Nothing to lose
Annette’s hearing loss was gradual, but it became more challenging as time went on.
“I had to be able to see people’s faces to read their lips. It was so frustrating and embarrassing,” she recalls.
Following a friend’s referral to Dr. Thomas at Hearing + Balance Clinics, Annette is now successfully reconnecting to the world around her. The team helped her to feel “completely at ease” and she says she “loved Dr. Thomas from the beginning.”
With her new devices, Annette feels “much more comfortable in crowds” and her husband is glad “that we could turn down the volume on the TV.”
Annette gives Hearing + Balance Clinics a 10/10 rating and advises potential patients, “You really have nothing to lose. If they don’t work for you, you don’t have to get them.”

Get tested
Bill made an appointment at Hearing + Balance Clinics, as his wife “kept after me to get my hearing tested.” His only concern was that “I would feel older if I need hearing aids.”
He says the team was “much more professional than I expected, which has been confirmed by my experience.” Bill also learned his wife was correct about his hearing loss.
“Only after having a complete check, did I realize that I was losing hearing in selected frequency ranges,” he says.
Bill is also glad he listened to his wife and made the appointment. “I am big into classical music. I now enjoy music—both listening and performing—so much more,” he says, thanks to his new hearing aids.
Bill rates Hearing + Balance Clinics an 8/10, and adds, “Get tested. The professionals at Hearing + Balance Clinics have gone above and beyond to make my transition to using hearing aids easy.”

I highly recommend them
Serving 28 years in the military took its toll on Tom’s hearing.
“I felt frustrated because I was always having to respond to people with a ‘What?’” he recalls. “I could hear the sound of the voice but often could not distinguish the sounds to understand.”
Tom has depended on Hearing + Balance Clincs for some time and says they’ve “always been professional, knowledgeable, courteous, and friendly.”
He continues, “I am on my second set of hearing aids. The first were tremendously helpful, but the second set has provided a significant improvement, probably due to increased hearing loss and updated technology.”
Tom considers the audiologists “very knowledgeable” and says they “can accurately assess your needs for hearing devices.”
Giving Hearing + Balance Clinics a 10/10 rating, he says, “Definitely get your hearing checked. I highly recommend them. I always enjoy working with a professional and well-run clinic. Both the professionalism and personal service provided are top-notch.”

Patient and kind to my situation
Perry was “feeling left out of group conversations” and decided to get his hearing checked. However, he had some concerns, such as “the stigma that it would make me feel like I reached old age” and “seeing the aid in the mirror.”
Upon visiting Hearing + Balance Clinics, he liked how the team was “patient and kind to my situation.” He also liked the “convenience with the Loganville and Watkinsville office” as well as the “quick and efficient service.”
Perry is thrilled with his hearing aids and says they have “helped at home with my wife and out in a crowd.” He also considers them “a good step in the right direction for better cognitive function.”
Hearing + Balance Clinics receives a 9/10 rating from Perry.

Helpful and kind
Debbie decided to get her hearing checked after her adult child “complained about the volume on the TV.”
That’s not to say she wasn’t worried, though. The cost was her main concern, and she says, “I was fearful about missing out on information I might be missing due to not hearing communications.”
At her initial appointment with Hearing + Balance Clinics, she says the team was “helpful and kind.” She felt relieved that someone was listening to her. “I found others were often condescending about my hearing loss. They seemed to think I had done it purposefully or that I was faking.”
Debbie says her new hearing aids have massively improved her hearing. She adds, “No one noticed them either.”
Giving Hearing + Balance Clinics a 10/10 rating, she shares these words of wisdom to anyone contemplating an appointment: “Do it! Hearing loss forces our brains to focus on hearing so much that other functions are ignored. It can lead to dementia. As I understand it, anyway. Hearing aids are just another tool, like glasses, or caps for our teeth. It covers the hamate of hearing and balance issues, including the emotional challenges too.”

Friendly, kind, and concerned
Jacquie was getting more and more frustrated at the library where she works.
She recalls, “I could not hear the questions being asked at the reference desk, especially from Asian students and had to ask them to write their question down. I had had problems with my ears for some time but considering the need for hearing aids was not something I had thought about. Then I realized that I was missing out on conversations in groups and not participating.”
Jacquie found the Hearing + Balance Clincs team to be “friendly, kind, and concerned,” and she especially liked “their concern for their patients’ well-being.”
Jacquie explains, “Dr. Thomas listened to my concerns, did the hearing tests, and explained what was happening and what my options were.”
The new devices have made a huge difference to Jacquie’s life. “They have improved my participation in group discussions, improved my interactions with all students at the UGA libraries, and my interactions with family members who were tired of me saying ‘What did you say?’” she shares.
Rating Hearing + Balance Clinics a 9/10, Jacquie says, “Go and have a consultation. Learn what you can about the latest hearing aids available. Also, you will be surprised by the difference it makes in your interactions with others.”

The whole team is wonderful
Gina was missing out on sounds all around her. A work colleague’s laughter, thunder, sirens, and the sound of garbage trucks were missing from her world.
She says it was difficult “coming to terms/accepting what I had begun to suspect.” Gina was also concerned about finding an audiologist “who would treat me as a whole person and not focus just on my hearing loss, hearing aids, or getting the hearing test done.”
Gina was already a hearing aid wearer when she visited Hearing + Balance Clinics. She says, “I had been to many different audiologist offices around the area and did not feel that they took time with me.” She often felt “like I was simply an opportunity to make a hearing aid sale.”
And on more than one occasion, Gina says, “My hearing aids were the focal point rather than discussing my hearing, my struggles, my background, and what I wanted.”
However, Gina finally felt listened to and properly cared for following her initial appointment at Hearing + Balance Clinics. She says, “Dr. Thomas spent an incredible amount of time talking with me before ever checking my hearing.
“I never felt like the focus was hearing aids, selling me a new pair (even though I could have used a new pair), or getting me in and out for the hearing test. I have been treated with the same dignity, respect, and compassion EVERY visit.
“Dr. Griffin always spends the necessary time to discuss hearing results and how I am functioning in the world today…I was treated as a person rather than a hearing loss.”
Gina’s hearing aids have helped her immensely. “I could not function or work without my hearing aids,” she says. “My hearing aids help to maintain my overall quality of life. They help me navigate my daily life.”
Rating Hearing + Balance Clinics a 10/10, she says, “Go! The whole team is wonderful. They have fit me in to assist with difficulties, they keep my hearing aids clean and functioning. They keep them programmed so I can get the maximum hearing benefit.
“Aside from how great the team is – go for YOU. Their patients are at the heart of their work.”

I often have to feel my ears to check if the aids are in because they are so comfortable
I first realized I had a hearing challenge when my family kept pointing it out—they noticed I was always asking them to repeat words and had the radio and TV set to very loud volumes. Before contacting the Hearing + Balance Clinic, my main concern was the size of the hearing aids and how noticeable they would be.
Upon my visit, I instantly noticed how kind, caring, and professional everyone was. Now that I wear hearing aids, I don’t need to have my radio and TV so loud, I often have to feel my ears to check if the aids are in because they are so comfortable, and my balance has even improved. Plus, I can participate more in conversations.
To anyone concerned about their hearing and considering a visit, I’d say go for it. The folks at the clinic will treat you well and be very accommodating. The follow-up care, including cleaning and check-ups of the devices, is very good too.

I love their willingness to answer questions and provide assistance
I realized I had a hearing challenge not through a defining moment but through a gradual awareness that my hearing was deteriorating. I was concerned that a hearing aid would have screaming electrical feedback in my ear just like my grandmother’s used to do. I also assumed I would only need one hearing aid for the most deteriorated ear.
Since I started wearing hearing aids, they have significantly improved my hearing and mitigated my tinnitus. If you’re concerned about your hearing, don’t hesitate to get a hearing test and learn how hearing aids can improve your quality of life. I love their willingness to answer questions and provide assistance.

I found myself getting lost in conversations
I noticed that I was facing a hearing challenge when I found myself getting lost in conversations and responding inappropriately because I thought I knew what others were saying. It was embarrassing!
My only concern before contacting Hearing + Balance Clinics was “looking old.” However, my first impression of the clinic was very positive, as I trusted them immediately—they totally customized my hearing aids little by little, allowing me to adapt easily.
Since I started wearing hearing aids, I am confident in hearing correctly without constantly asking people to repeat themselves. To anyone concerned about their hearing, I would say, “Don’t go to big-box, one-size-fits-all places to save money. Go to professionals.”

The care and aftercare from H+B Clinic is great
Having tinnitus was unbearable and when I was looking for an audiologist, I was looking forward to solving my issue. My first impression of the clinic was that everyone was very understanding and professional. Now that I wear hearing aids, I can’t imagine not having them. If you’re concerned about your hearing and considering a visit, I would strongly advise you to avoid the big box store route and see an audiologist. The care and aftercare from H+B Clinic is great.

Not only can I hear better, but I can also stream podcasts and music from my phone
While I could hear, I realized that I wasn’t processing what people were saying and often had to ask them to repeat themselves. My first impression of them was that they were very friendly and helpful in choosing the best hearing device for my needs. Now that I have hearing aids, I can process what people are saying, and the type of hearing aids I have are super. Not only can I hear better, but I can also stream podcasts and music from my phone.
To anybody concerned about their hearing and considering visiting, I’d say, “Just go and do it!” They helped with the hearing aids and continue to help with the upkeep of my hearing aids.

I referred my neighbor who already had an audiologist but decided to switch after my recommendation
I first realized something was up with my ears when I couldn’t hear the alert beep that indicated that my refrigerator door had been open too long. I did have some concerns before contacting the Hearing + Balance Clinics. My dad had hearing aids, and I remembered how they amplified everything, causing him discomfort, especially when small children would shriek at family events.
My first impressions of Dr. Griffin and his assistant were how professional they were. Now that I wear hearing aids, I hear well, especially during phone conversations. To anyone concerned about their hearing, I would say, talk to the folks at Hearing + Balance Clinics. I have been very pleased with them, and I even referred my neighbor who already had an audiologist but decided to switch after my recommendation.

I would recommend them to family and friends
I first realized something was up with my ears about two years ago when I couldn’t hear my family very well and kept asking them to repeat what they were saying. Before contacting the Hearing + Balance Clinics, I had no preconceived fears or concerns; my daughter recommended you to me in Loganville, GA. Once I visited, although it was all new to me, I was impressed.
Now, since getting hearing aids, my hearing has been much better. I can now hear my family and the TV clearly. To anyone concerned about their hearing and considering visiting the clinic, I would say, “Try them. I’ve been very happy with them and would recommend them to family and friends.”
Everyone has been very kind and helpful, and even when I moved, I stuck with H+B Clinic – I just went to their clinic that was now closest to me!

I no longer worry about meeting people
When I started to have issues with my ears, I was shocked. It made me hesitant to be in a group, and I was deeply concerned about losing my hearing completely.
As soon as I visited the clinic, I felt I could trust them with my needs. The doctor was very respectful and pleasant and patient. Since getting hearing aids, there has been a tremendous change in my life—I no longer worry about meeting people. I was shocked to learn how bad my hearing really was
When I visited Hearing + Balance Clinics, I thought I could hear well. I was shocked to learn how bad my hearing really was. I was so glad I went! My first impression of the clinic was positive—everyone was very nice and willing to help in any way.
No, I am amazed at how much I can hear. After I got my hearing aids, I got in the car and heard the turn signal for the first time. I would tell anyone with hearing concerns to go get tested. It doesn’t hurt to have it, to make sure your hearing is good or bad.
You couldn’t find a better place to go for your hearing. The Doctors and staff are super nice and are willing to help you in any way they can. When I need help all I have to do is call the office. I am glad I came to Hearing and Balance.

The doctor was exceptional
I have suffered from tinnitus since 2014, and the ringing in my ears can sometimes become nerve-racking, causing anxiety. When I contacted Hearing + Balance Clinics, it was about dizziness and episodes of vertigo. My only preconceived concern was about the VNG test, which is known to bring about nausea and vertigo episodes. However, my first impressions of the clinic were all positive. The doctor was exceptional, making me feel very comfortable and was exceptionally professional. I really appreciated the entire staff.
Although I haven’t been issued any hearing aids yet, I would still encourage anyone concerned about their hearing to go visit as soon as possible. The comfort H+B Clinic provided during the anxiousness I was experiencing at the time was invaluable.

It was an easy adjustment
I realized I had a hearing challenge when I found myself not able to hear at the table in restaurants with noise all around. I didn’t have any preconceived fears or concerns before contacting Hearing + Balance Clinics—I just hated having hearing difficulties and needed help. My first impression was very positive; I was warmly received and believed I was about to get true professional help. Since getting hearing aids, I’ve had no problem getting used to wearing them—it was an easy adjustment and I have enjoyed meeting and talking with different members of the staff.
If you’re concerned about your hearing and considering visiting, I would urge you to make an appointment and get tested.

I did not realize just how much I was not hearing
The moment I first noticed I had hearing loss was a huge “OH NO” moment. Given my history working around air tools and chainsaws, I was nervous about potential nerve damage. Initially, I had considerable reservations about having hearing aids because my only experiences were from people who bought them online and had nothing but complaints, or had the older, larger, and very noticeable versions.
My first impressions were very positive—the team was very professional and thorough.
The impact of hearing aids on my life has been profound. I did not realize just how much I was not hearing. The details in sounds that I had not heard for a long time were eye-opening. I was amazed and smiling in the office when I first put in my trial devices and could hear the door opening as it brushed against the carpet and the sound of a pen being placed on a desk at the receptionist’s counter.
To anybody concerned about their hearing and considering visiting the Hearing and Balance Clinics, I highly recommend them. Dr. Griffin is very good at deciphering the issues I described I was having after getting my hearing aids and making the necessary tweaks to programming to suit my needs.

Go get tested ASAP!
Bob was at work when he experienced a sudden hearing loss.
“I was scared,” he recalls. “I could only so very slightly hear someone. I was able to text/message my wife and she got an appointment with you at 5pm. You immediately said I first needed to see an ENT.”
This prompted Bob to wonder “just how was I going to get some hearing back,” and he was “very concerned and that I needed to see an ENT and start treatment ASAP!”
Bob had an appointment with Dr. Gomez the next morning and was prescribed Prednisone. He says after a few days, “My hearing came back, but I needed new hearing aids. If it weren’t for you and Dr. Gomez, I would probably be deaf. Thank you!”
He says his new hearing aids “gave me hearing again. My first hearing aids were the battery type. Analog units. Not digital like I have now.”
Giving Hearing + Balance Clinics a 9/10 rating, he suggests others should “Go get tested ASAP!” Bob adds that the team is “easy to talk with and deal with.”

I no longer need everything repeated several times
Gary’s hearing gradually faded over several decades.
Eventually, he says, “It became very bothersome for me and others, as I needed things repeated several times. And my wife had had enough of the yelling required so that I could understand what she was saying during normal conversation.”
Prior to visiting Hearing + Balance Clinics, Gary’s main concern was the “cost.” But he was relieved to learn that his insurance would cover most of it.
He describes his exam as “brief but thorough,” and he “was surprised at how fast the hearing aids were programmed to meet my needs and how well they worked.” He also liked “the friendly, casual atmosphere” at the clinic.
Gary is enjoying life with his new devices. “I can be an active part of a conversation without feeling as though I am a burden on everyone that can hear being as I no longer need everything repeated several times. I can hear birds and natural sounds when outside.”
Rating Hearing + Balance Clinics an 8/10, he advises potential patients, “Go. Being able to hear again changes your life.”

Much better understanding of what is being said
Seeing as Kathy’s parents both had hearing issues, Kathy figured “it was a matter of time” before she would need hearing aids. “I just wasn’t ready for it to be my time,” she recalls.
“I felt embarrassed to need hearing aids and was sensitive to what people would think. Also they are expensive,” adds Kathy.
Her mom was already a patient at Hearing + Balance Clinics, so Kathy was familiar with the clinic prior to her appointment. Following her comprehensive hearing assessment, Kathy was prescribed hearing aids. With her new devices, she has a “much better understanding of what is being said and no more comments from my kids that I couldn’t hear anything.”
Kathy rates Hearing + Balance Clinics a 10/10, adding, “Hearing and brain health are intimately linked, so you really can’t afford to not maximize your hearing. They helped me when I needed it.”

Friendly, professional staff
Mark “noticed over time” that his hearing was declining. But he says he “more or less took it in stride and knew I needed to be tested.”
Prior to visiting Hearing + Balance Clinics, he says his only concern was “whether the hearing aid would make an audible screech into my ear like what used to happen to my grandmother many years ago.”
Mark was impressed with the “competent” team and he now likes “the quarterly maintenance check-ups and friendly, professional staff.”
He shares his new hearing aids “allow me to continue living my normal life.” Mark adds, “The only exception is staying away from loud venues such as music concerts and sporting events. I would do this at this stage of life regardless of the hearing aids.”
Rating Hearing + Balance Clinics a 9/10, he suggests prospective patients should “put your fears and pride aside” and “get tested.”

Eager to help
Michael’s hearing loss was affecting his work.
He explains, “I am a dispatcher for an electric utility company and I’ve noticed over time that my hearing has gotten worse. But in 2022, I had gotten Covid and felt like I couldn’t hear out of my right ear.
“I saw a local ear specialist that referred me to Hearing + Balance Clinics. They found that I had lost a little over 10% of hearing in my right ear compared to my left ear. After a round of antibiotics, some of the hearing came back in my right ear, but I still have some effects caused by my job.”
Michael notes his hearing loss makes it harder to “hear the various phone calls, CB radio calls, and outage alarms” he monitors. He fears “that the longer I work, my hearing will continue to get worse” and that he’ll need hearing aids.
Reflecting on his appointment at Hearing + Balance Clinics, he says, “Everyone was friendly and professional and eager to help.” He also likes “the continued communication through email to remind me that they’re always there to help.”
Michael rates Hearing + Balance Clinics a 10/10 and advises others, “If you can tell a difference in your hearing, then more than likely your friends and family can also tell when you have conversations, watching TV/movies, or attending sporting or other events. Don’t put off getting help ASAP to get treatment for your hearing loss.”

I didn’t realize how much I didn’t hear

Sarah’s new hearing aids have reconnected her to so many sounds. She shares, “I didn’t realize how much I didn’t hear and now I am at a loss without them. I love the fact that I can listen from my podcasts with them.”

Best decision I have made in a very long time
As is often the case, Debra’s hearing loss developed over time.
She says, “It came on gradually, but it became obvious when I would ignore whoever was talking, so I did have to ask them to repeat what they said.”
Prior to visiting Hearing + Balance Clinics, she says she had “no fears, but I was concerned that I would spend lots of money and the hearing aids wouldn’t help me.”
Debra says, “The great people at Hearing + Balance Clincs took the time to make sure I knew what was going on and how I could be helped. I am very grateful.” She also appreciates the team’s “willingness to work with me and make sure I was satisfied and make adjustments when needed.”
With her new hearing aids, Debra says, “I can carry on conversations without having to ask the other person to repeat. The TV is no longer turned up to eardrum splitting range. I am more confident when carrying on a conversation because I don’t need to worry that I missed something or misunderstood what was being said.”
Giving Hearing + Balance Clinics a 10/10 rating, she advises others, “Do it! Best decision I have made in a very long time. I know that my hearing will never be perfect and I still miss words or sounds, but I am so grateful that I took the chance.”
