Understanding Hearing Aid Bluetooth Issues
Before 2014, many hearing aids needed a neck loop to connect to devices like phones and computers. Nowadays, direct streaming from personal devices has come a long way, including improved sound quality and much better connectivity.
Bluetooth allows us to stream audiobooks, podcasts, videos, music, and phone calls directly into our headphones, speakers, or even hearing aids with better audio quality. It’s much easier to use than the neck loops and additional accessories of the past, but it’s not without its common issues.
Some common issues with Bluetooth include:
Software Updates:
Most problems are due to updates on phones or tablets, not the hearing aids themselves.
Rebooting:
You might need to reboot your hearing aids or devices frequently.
Battery Drain:
Increased battery usage when connected to a smart device.
Connection Problems:
Issues with making phone calls or streaming audio, including static noise.
If you’re having an issue with your Bluetooth, don’t panic! These issues are typically temporary; restart your hearing aids, close any open apps, and if needed, restart your phone. If the issue persists, delete and re-pair your hearing aids to your phone or device, and check for updates. If you’re truly stumped, contact your audiologist.
We’re here to help troubleshoot and resolve connectivity issues. Remember, while Bluetooth can sometimes be frustrating, it offers great benefits for hearing aid users!
